PCA’s Upper School students encounter Christ during dedicated times each week through scripture reading, skits, small group activities, and guest speakers utilizing the spiritual theme selected for the school year.
2026-2027 Spiritual Theme
Called By Name
Our students will spend the school year exploring what it means to be known and called by God and how that truth shapes every part of who we are. When we understand that our identity is rooted in Christ and that we are fully known and loved by our Creator, it changes the way we see ourselves, the way we live, and the way we understand our purpose.
Throughout the year, each quarter will focus on a different aspect of what it means to be Called By Name: Identity, Image, Character, and Purpose.
Identity — Who am I?
We will explore what Scripture says about who we are as people created and known by God, and how our identity is ultimately found in Christ.
“I have called you by name; you are mine.” — Isaiah 43:1
Image — How do I see myself?
Students will consider what it means to be created in the image of God and how that truth shapes the way we view ourselves and others. Rather than allowing the world to define our worth, we can see ourselves through the truth of our Creator.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them.” — Genesis 1:27
Character — How am I called to live?
Knowing who we are in Christ should shape the way we live. Students will explore the character qualities God calls us to develop and what it looks like to reflect Christ in our words, choices, relationships, and actions.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” — Colossians 3:12
Purpose — What am I called to do?
God has uniquely created each of us with a purpose. Students will consider how their gifts, passions, and opportunities can be used to serve others, glorify God, and advance His Kingdom.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10
As our students journey through Called By Name, our prayer is that they will come to know more deeply who God says they are, see themselves and others through His eyes, grow in Christ-like character, and recognize the purpose He has placed before them. Above all, we pray they will understand that they are not unknown or overlooked—they are known, loved, and called by name by God.
