PCA’s Summer Reading & Math Program is critical to keeping students on track for the upcoming school year by retaining the knowledge and skills learned during the previous year. Research indicates that students can lose up to 30% of what was learned during the school year due to the “summer slide.” The benefits of summer programs also include improved reading skills, improved self-esteem, and enhanced comprehension and memory skills during a period in which the brain is not actively engaged in classroom learning.

To maintain your child’s reading and math skills, participation in PCA’s Summer Reading & Math Program is required according to the grade level that students will be entering for the 2023-2024 school year. Students in grades K3-2 receive prizes for participation, while grades are assessed for students in grades 3-12.
