Kaitlyn Reyes Makes Panther Basketball History

 In Athletics

Kaitlyn Reyes, PCA senior, set a record that no other student-athlete has achieved in PCA’s storied basketball history. With 26 points in the first half of last week’s game against BTW Magnet, she became the first and only player in the program’s 19 seasons to surpass 2,000 career points! To date, she’s scored 2,011 points.

As a shooting guard for the Lady Panthers, Kaitlyn has helped her team win 86 games during her varsity career. During the 2017-2018 season, she averaged 23.9 points per game setting a school record which she still holds. This season she averages nearly 22 points per game as the team continues to improve their 17-7 season record.

“I have coached a lot of players over my 18-year head coaching career, but there is no one who can put the ball in the basket like Kaitlyn Reyes,” said Jason Roberson, PCA’s head basketball coach. “For someone to score more than 2,000 career points, they must score in multiple ways to keep the defense off balance and K-Rey can do just that. She attacks and finishes around the basket, hits mid-range jumpers, shoots the long ball, and she can also get to the free throw line like no other player I have ever coached. Her commitment, competitiveness, and consistency have allowed her to have an amazing career that most basketball players, male or female, only dream of achieving.”
