Cooper Osborne Signs to Play Golf at Faulkner University

Prattville Christian Academy is excited to announce that Cooper Osborne recently signed a Letter of Intent to play collegiate golf for Faulkner University, making him the first PCA student to play golf at the next level.

Cooper grew up as a multi-sport athlete, playing basketball, baseball, and swimming. Tara Osborne, Cooper’s mother and PCA Athletic Director, says, “I believe being a multi-sport athlete has helped Cooper get to where he is today, as well as the amazing coaches and instructors he has been blessed with. Each one of them pushed Cooper out of his comfort zone but prioritized his academics first and foremost.” 

Cooper’s golf journey can be an inspiration to many, since he only started playing less than three years ago, and is now planning to play collegiately. He knew he would have to put in more work than others who have more experience golfing, but he was willing to do whatever it took.

This to Cooper even meant giving up one sport to pour into another, so he gave up baseball since it fell in the same timeframe as golf. Eventually, Cooper decided to give up his other two sports, swimming and basketball to focus solely on golf. Osborne said it was a “very mature and extremely hard decision” to give up basketball, since he played since he was 5 years old. His teammates and coaches continuously supported him through these tough decisions, because they knew that ultimately this was what Cooper had to do to follow his dreams. Coach Roberson, PCA Basketball Coach, spoke highly of Cooper’s toughness, competitive drive, and passion within him that will continue to lead him far in life. 

Cooper has had a successful golf career thus far; he plays in the Alabama Junior Golf Organization (AJGO) and won his first tournament on November 4. He had six top ten finishes with AJGO in 2023, and qualified for AHSAA sub-state in his first season with PCA golf.
