Coach Stough Celebrates 500 Career Wins
When Coach Randy Stough moved his family to Wetumpka in 1997, it was an opportunity for him to coach basketball at Wetumpka High School. Basketball was his true love but after learning that Wetumpka was a coach short on the softball field, he agreed to lead the Lady Indians for just one season. Fast forward to 2017, Coach Stough has been on the field for 20 years and has earned more than 500 career wins.
“I am humbled,” said Coach Stough, PCA’s head softball coach. “I can’t be the one on the field pitching, batting or playing defense so this accomplishment is only possible because of the players all well as assistant coaches, supportive parents and administrators. My wife and family have been my biggest fans and support me even when I have been away from them to coach and do what I love to do.”
In his 20 seasons as a softball coach, Stough has earned an impressive 501-202 record with more than 15 post season appearances between Wetumpka High School and his current school, Prattville Christian Academy. As PCA’s head softball coach since 2012, Stough has led the Lady Panthers to several area championships and Elite 8 appearances, and fell just short of a state championship with his #1 ranked Lady Panthers during the 2016 season.
“In our lives, there are many incredible people who inspire and mold the character of future generations,” said Coach Marcus Gippert, assistant softball coach. “These mentors and leaders come in all shapes and forms, never failing to provide motivation and advice. For a great number of people, such inspiration comes in the form of a coach and for many, that coach has been Randy Stough. Coach Stough is an incredible person that has had an immeasurable impact on the lives of the girls we’ve been fortunate enough to coach. Thank you for your time, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the sport and more importantly to player development. You never fail to give your all.”
